Case Studies on Hiring!!!

We are a leading placement firm with our corporate office in Delhi .
We have been catering to all the Top Notch companies in the
Construction Vertical for almost 30 yrs. We are the specialized
consultants for the Senior Level positions.

We feel that closing senior level positions (like CEO, CTO, CFO,
COO, Directors, Profit centre heads etc) are most challenging in
terms of time and resources invested on them. Sometimes finding this
level professional cost us very high with no returns. But after so
much of efforts when we are able to close positions by finding the
appropriate professionals, we feel that it was worth taking the
pains and not only we get fair Service charges (which we certainly
deserve), but it gives us an immense satisfaction in terms of
achievement we have made.

We would like to share with you, the not so good experience that we
have faced in past couple of months, while working as the channel
partners for one of our esteemed client.
We would like to seek advises and views of the professionals like
you, regarding the same.

The incident goes like this:
We were given a very important assignment of finding a Director for
a prestigious construction company in India , for their overseas
operation. Our dedicated team started working on this position, and
looking at the urgency from the client side, out of the whole team
of 10 recruiters, 4 were exclusively working on this position. After
months of sourcing and head hunting we were able to find a few apt
professionals. We scheduled their telephonic Interviews and finally
couple of them were interviewed face to face. Candidates were
scattered all across India and abroad and the face to face interview
took place in Delhi . Our team coordinated for each small and big
thing and made necessary arrangements, with the help and assistance
of our client. Finally one candidate was short listed and the
position was on the verge of closure. The company asked him to visit
their overseas office and take the jest of things over there. We
again coordinated from both sides and did the needful. Finally the
candidate was offered and after all the necessary formalities he was
ready to join.

He left from India to join their overseas office. Then a very
unfortunate incident happened with this candidate When he reached at
Airport his wife fell off the escalators and she was badly injured.
Our candidate somehow joined the company, but the medical condition
of his wife was critical and he could not continue in the company
and came back to India to seek medical help.

Company gave him ample time and necessary assistance, but at that
time his situation was very difficult. We followed up on behalf of
our client with the candidate to enable him join ASAP. He being
professional, when realized that the company`s Projects was
suffering, said clearly that he would not be able to continue and
requested the company to relieve him of his services and look for
another person.

It was a very big set back for the Company as well as for us,
because getting an apt person like him took us several months, and
finding another one was highly challenging, in a short span of time.
The Projects were drastically suffering in the absence of Director.

Professionally, we made several unsuccessful attempts, across
months, to make him join back. But we all are human beings as well,
we could not pressurize him, beyond a level, considering his genuine
reason. At this time even company was trying hard to get him back,
considering the time and money already being invested on him. But
all in vain…..
We still kept trying and so did the company.

After a few months through our sources we came to know that the
candidate has joined back, without our knowledge. Though we were
really happy about it, but it was a bit disappointing for us to know
that all this happened without our knowledge. After working for this
company for so many years, they were not even courteous enough to
keep us in loop. Moreover when we approached the company for the
payment, they said that we don`t deserve any payment for this as
they have made him join by their own efforts.
We do not deny the fact that there were substantial efforts put in
from their side, nevertheless our efforts were not less either.

We have been able to place very good professionals in this company,
within specified time and budget, by putting in our heart and soul.
But the business association could not prove to be mutually
beneficial from both sides, as the same was never reciprocated back
to us. Our organization has been badly affected by the non payments,
delay in feedback and high de – motivation amongst team members
working for this client.

We would request you professionals (Guru`s) out there to please
advise us that what are your views about this incident and how
should we proceed further on this.

We cannot explain you that how exasperating this has been for us. We
are sure you being professionals, would certainly understand the
intensity of trauma we are facing, even after working so hard for
this client.. Its not just about money, its also about the hard work
put in by so many people in our Team.

Your cooperation and prompt views to this matter will be greatly
appreciated.
