6 Apr 2009 Chennai:The Rs 2,600-crore Areva T&D India, transmission and distribution division of French engineering group Areva SA, is planning to hire over 1,500 people in the next three-four years for its eight factories situated across Padappai and Hosur (both in Tamil Nadu) as well as Vadodara (Gujarat), chairman and CEO Philippe Guillemot said.
“We are going to hire around 1,500 people for all these new factories being set up across India. We anticipate robust demand for our gas insulated substations (GIS) and power transformers. We need more people to feed the upcoming demand. This is why we embarked on the Rs 950-crore investment plan way back in April 2007 to build manufacturing sites at these new places,” Areva T&D’s Guillemot said on Tuesday.
The company inaugurated its high-voltage manufacturing site at Padappai, near Chennai.
