New Delhi: Eying big profile clients of Satyam Computers in the offshoring business, Aegis BPO, Essar Groups` outsourcing arm is planning to acquire Satyam`s BPO operations. Aegis is expected to submit an expression of interest (EoI) to Satyam within two days, reported The Economic Times.

A person close to the development said that Satyam BPO`s international clients and its presence in telecom, banking and financial services make it an attractive target. A top Aegis executive has confirmed that the firm is interested to acquire Satyam BPO. "As a group, we constantly keep looking at growth opportunities, but we would not like to comment on any specific transactions," a company statement said.

Satyam BPO, having delivery centers in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and some on-site centers, currently employs about 3,500 to 4,000 people. The company has clients in various verticals such as BellSouth and Verizon in telecom, Caterpillar in construction and GlaxoSmithKline in health care. However, Satyam BPO`s revenue for the quarter ended in September 2008 stood at Rs.55.6 crore, down by 8.65 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

On the other hand, Aegis BPO has revenue of about $450 million. Moreover, in the last four year, Aegis acquired 11 companies. The company employs 30,000 people in 31 locations worldwide. It has its presence in telecom, banking and financial services.
