Not neccesarily Diana, In case of IT guys, only when it comes to interacting with the clients they wud b required to communicate in fluency without interruption. Not everyone in team wud b have to interact with client on regular basis, might be a TL or PM or PL would be required to do that. Communication Skills would automatically improve when in Team.

Well, Arsha.. I would say automatically improving communication is very difficult.
It is the person, who needs to take an effort and initiative to improve on his weakness.
