21 Dec 2008 Chennai: In a bid to encourage research, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Sunday said that it would hire computer science PhDs from the Indian
Institutes of Technology (IITs) without interviews.

“There will be no interviews for PhDs from IITs across the country for the next five years. We will recruit them directly,” TCS managing director S Ramadorai said. He was speaking during a panel discussion, which included CEOs of Tata group companies, at PanIIT, an IIT alumni conference. The company has already hired a few hundred PhDs from various institutions, he said.

CK Prahalad, who was moderating the panel, said India had the potential to create nearly 200 million college graduates and 500 million professionals across various sectors in the next 15 years. B Muthuraman, Tata Steel’s MD, was optimistic about opportunities in innovating changes in the steel manufacturing process so as to curb carbon emission during production.
