Bangalore: Indian students enrolled for Post Graduate Program in Management for Executives (PGPX) in Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) have the highest average Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 728 among successful candidates, which is the highest in the world. Indian institute has surpassed the prestigious Stanford University which marked the second highest of 725.

IIM-A`s PGPX has recorded an average GMAT score of Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad`s one-year program which recorded an average GMAT score of 714 for the 2008-09 batch, ranking third follows IIM-A.

For enrolling executive management programs, candidate should possess a minimum work experience of five to seven years. However, the trend is that those who sign on, usually have average work experience of eight to 10 years.

The increase in the applications for such courses shows the high popularity of one-year programs in India. ISB received 3,000 applications for 440 seats last year. Foreseeing a rise by 40 percent this year, the institute has decided to increase the seats to 550.

Moreover, global recruiters have showed much interest in recruiting graduates of these programs. Big companies like, Microsoft, GE, Shell, Booz Allen Hamilton, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, ITC, RPG, Yes Bank, Infosys and Tech Mahindra have hired in big number among such graduates.

Inspired by IIM-A and ISB, many other institutes including IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) in Manipal and Nirma Institute of Management (NIM) are planning to start one-year postgraduate executive management program.
