IBM India has assured jobs to at least 100 candidates, mostly freshers, during its off-campus recruitment drive held on Friday and Saturday. Around 2,400 students turned up for the test conducted by IBM in association with the Federation of Training and Placement Officers (FTPO) at the Pimpri-Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE).
“Around 70 freshers or students who will pass out this year and 30 candidates who passed in 2007 and 2008 and had a few months of experience were selected,” said Prof Shitalkumar Rawandale, president, FTPO.
Pallavi Rao, a final year electronics and telecommunications student from PCCOE, was one of the 100 selected.
“I had earlier tried to get a job with Infosys, I did not get through. My friends and I decided to go for this opportunity and we reached the college at 9 am, an hour-and-a-half earlier,” she said.
